“Street of Dreams”
I like to paint variations on favorite themes. I may dress up the subject with different details, or bathe it in varied lighting or other seasons or times of day. One atmosphere is more festive, another is more ordinary. This scene has a distant building dome with a trolley, or tram, in the foreground. The actual scene has no tram, but in my mind I put one there - to carry me onto my “Street of Dreams.” Or could this be the real “Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood”? No, it's Neglyennaya Street in downtown Moscow, but without the ghostly building silhouettes in some of my other paintings.
