“Adam's Evening”

The shimmering Amsterdam canal curves slowly into the distance before the splendor of a domed cathedral. People live along the canals, in houses and on houseboats, many of them with warm lighted windows. Landlubbers have to stay put, but boat dwellers can change their view at little cost whenever they cast off! Near to us we see the good boat “Adam,” looking so much like a miniature Noah's Ark. Maybe this connection is why I called her “Adam,” short for “Madam”, which reminds me of my own dear Eve! Actually, “A'dam” is short for “Amsterdam.”
