“Autumn Gate” This is the gate to what is now a large park near my home. It was originally an estate built by Count D. N. Sheremetyev, a famous Eighteenth Century patron of the arts. This portal is ajar, and personally invites me to enter into someone's life with the promise that something surprising and unexpected lies within. The colorful leaves of autumn, the hazy overcast, and the gate itself all contribute to the aura of mystery, and remind me of a fairy tale from my childhood. |
