Sretensky Street in Moscow is complimented by this domed building, which we see bathed in warm and wondrous light. This area was developed as an apartment complex by a turn of the century investment company, Strachovoje Obschestvo Rossiya (Insurance Association Russia), prior to the Russian Revolution. It has been a favorite residence area for artists, but today only the most well off dare consider the multi-million dollar prices. Those who cannot afford to live there still can paint it! Fascination and admiration are always free of charge. |
